Hair shedding and tangle

What is hair shedding and tangle?

I imagine that we are all familiar with the term “hair shedding and tangle“. If you have long hair or curly, wavy hair, we will have some difficulty detangling your hair in the morning and as you brush it, the hair strands just simply fall off your head.

It is normal that we have hair shedding and tangle but if you notice this happens too much, it would be a problem. Your hair sheds when you take a shower and brush it but this should not be more than 50-80 hair strands a day, especially when you have thin hair.

6 reasons why hair shedding and tangle

In order to put a stop to hair shedding and tangle, some actions need to be taken starting at figuring out the reasons which we will talk about in this section. I have listed 6 common reasons concerning the lifestyles, habits and hair care routine that lead to hair loss.

Hair shedding and tangle: Traction alopecia

Traction alopecia is hair hair shedding and tangle caused by persistent stress or strain on the hair follicle, impairing its ability to develop and retain long, healthy, healthy hair strands. The longer the follicle is abused, the more it can worsen, slowing and blocking blood flow and nutrients to the bulb and eventual hair shaft.  The consequent is fuzzy streaks of hair or thin areas.

Hair shedding and tangle: Overuse heat

Overuse of hot styling tools, such as your hairdryer, curling wand, and straighteners, will cause your hair shedding and tangle, it will become dry, brittle, and vulnerable to falling out, especially if you use them on a daily basis. Due to the fact that using too much hot, dry heat to the hair destroys the hair shaft.

Overuse of hot styling

Heat-damaged hair can be difficult to style, but treating this side effect (as many of us do) by using our hot equipment even more often would just intensify rather than fix the problem.

Hair shedding and tangle: Over-bleached and dyed

Hair shedding and tangle may also occur from coloring your hair too often, particularly if you use bleach. Hair that has been overprocessed for so long is vulnerable to breaking and splitting.  As a result, the hair loses all of its elasticity.

Over-dyed hair is frequently rough and straw-like, with choppy, inconsistent textures and a loss of volume induced by snapped hairs, which may make shedding more visible.

Hair shedding and tangle: Aggressive brushing

Brushing your hair properly stimulates your scalp, which can enhance hair growth, so don’t ignore this step of your hair care routine. You must, however, be careful.

Brushing hair

If you find yourself tugging and dragging your hair or making scratching sounds when brushing it, you’re either using too much force or brushing it wrong. This leads to hair shedding and tangle and a loss of hair growth. It’s the same if you brush your hair as soon as you get out of the tub, because wet hair is the most vulnerable so please avoid this.

Hair shedding and tangle: Lifestyle elements

Stress has an impact on nearly every part of your mental and physical health, including your hair. Stress causes the body to generate more cortisol, also known as the stress hormone, which initiates your natural fight or flight reaction. This, in fact, has a negative impact on your hair growth cycle by diverting the body’s energy (to the muscles and brain, for instance) and disrupting your nutritional intake, hormone levels, and scalp health.

Hair shedding and tangle may also suggest a low level of vitamin D and B12, as well as a shortage of protein in your diet. That’s also important because the protein keratin plays an important part for hair’s elasticity and texture, that’s why vegetarians may find that their hair will become less rich and shiny after making the change if they do not take extra cautious.

Hair shedding and tangle: Season changes

Both the summer and winter months can be particularly harmful to the hair, with the main concerns resulting from a lack of hydration. The sun and water will affect your hair, causing it to fade, split ends, and have a brittle, dry texture. Jumping in and out of a chlorinated pool will strip hair colors and treatments, leaving it looking gloomy and dehydrated.

Hair shedding and tangle can be seasonal for some people. Around 10 percent of a person’s hair can go into a resting phase called Telogen, when hair can fall out. Women apparently experience slightly higher rates of Telogen during the month of July, which, in turn, sees the effect of hair falling out in mid-October or November.

Solutions to hair shedding and tangle

After you have figured out the reason for hair shedding and tangle, it is time to take some action and fix the problem. Based on the causes named above, here are the solutions I suggested that can be useful for you.

Learn about your hair

Get to know your own hair to obtain a greater understanding of its weaknesses. Understand the physical characteristics, such as density (the number of hairs/follicles) and diameter (the thickness). Its porosity ratios and elasticity, for example, or how it acts. You will stop doing stuff that causes hair shedding and tangle by learning more about it.

Keep the heat under control.

I strongly advise everyone to use heating hair products and a temperature gauge so they can change the temperature. The hair shaft would be less strained. Avoiding using a temperature-controlled pair of straighteners or curling iron on the same section of hair may also help to minimize hair shedding and tangle.

To minimize the amount of time you spend with your tools, use a heat control spray and a towel to dry your hair carefully and thoroughly before picking them up.

Avoid hair dye

If you regularly dye your hair, consider staying away from these practices for a month and see if they are the reason for your hair shedding and tangle. Semi-permanent coloring, and balayage methods can also be safer on your tresses, so talk to your stylist about your choices before your next dyeing visit.

Choosing the right tools

Find a brush with rounded, plastic prongs and a vented, cushioned base. This will help detangle your hair and allow you control when brushing without having to use too much force.

Always begin combing from the ends, using your hands to secure your hair as you do it to prevent dragging, and work your way up slowly. If you’re having trouble, use a detangling spray and a wide-tooth comb along with a detangling spray to avoid hair shedding and tangle.

Detangle hair with large brush

This approach is particularly helpful for curly hair that appears to frizz when excessively brushed, since it helps you to eliminate the knots and tangles that cause breakage without losing your style. A nourishing shampoo and conditioner will also assist with the process.

See a doctor

If you’re having trouble finding out what’s causing your hair hair shedding and tangle or if your hair loss is getting out of control, it’s a smart idea to seek medical advice. You’ll be able to chat about your physical health and cortisol and hormone levels, as well as get professional guidance on whether anything more significant is to blame.
